Abstract: This study surveys the state-of-the-art techniques and architectures in deep learning. It starts with a history of artificial neural networks since 1940 and moves to recent deep learning algorithms and major breakthroughs in different applications. Then, the key algorithms and frameworks in this area, as well as popular techniques in deep learning, are presented. In this paper, we have provided an in-depth review of deep learning and its applications over the past few years.
